Orbital Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM): A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Orbital arteriovenous malformations (AVM) are identified by abnormal high-flow connections between the veins and arteries, which often supplied branches of internal external carotid also with a nidus cellular stroma distributed vessels. rare among all congenital malformations. Pain, glaucoma, optic nerve ischemia compression retinal some causes enlarging orbital AVMs. Because nature these lesions, they usually misdiagnosed treated improperly. For diagnosis such AVMs, angiography becomes an essential tool. The primary method diagnosing AV non-invasive cross-sectional imaging catheter angiography. Treatment for same includes reducing blood flow to malformation via preoperative embolization. And surgical resection. Complete excision is challenging because increased risk involvement ophthalmic artery can cause vision loss, embolization difficult in patients. An effective way treating ethanol sclerotherapy. Diagnosing managing important as permanent loss.

ARTERIOVENOUS MALFORMATIONS AVM Incidence Since only 12% of AVMs cause symptoms, the incidence of AVM in the United States is not fully known. The incidence is thought to be around 1 per 100,000, equaling 300,000 cases. As technology advances and early detection increases, these numbers may rise. The average age of AVM diagnosis is 33 years, with 64% being identified before age 40 (Greenburg, 2...

متن کاملPulmonary arteriovenous malformations: a clinical review.
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) are a rare clinical entity. Most of them are associated with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia. The usual clinical presentation is exertional dyspnoea and hypoxaemia. The initial test of choice for screening is the 100% oxygen method. A pulmonary angiogram is needed to define the anatomy and guide transcatheter embolisation (TCE). TCE has been ...
